Aviksha: self-reliance and the path to self-realization
True self-realization cannot be achieved through begging or dependence on others. The weak are incapable of unveiling the true essence of the self. Sri Sri Babamoni emphasized self-reliance and the use of one’s own strength. Ayachak Ashrama is built on Aviksha, the vow of non-begging.
The Ashrama works for the welfare of people and depends on divine grace, not on alms. Nobody is told what the Ashrama wants. The ideal is held in two lines He kept before the community:
“नायमात्मा बलहीनेन लभ्यः।” — The Self cannot be attained by the weak.
“भिक्षायां नैव नैव च।” — Begging is not the way.
